HMV is one the United Kingdom and Irelands leading specialist music and DVD/Video retailers, also stocking computer games and related products. HMV operates around 200 stores in major shopping areas throughout the United Kingdom as well as operating a successful online store.
The HMV story began way back in 1921 when acclaimed British composer, Sir Edward Elgar officially opened the first store in Oxford Street, London. This flagship store was at the time the most lavish and modern retail outlet ever seen by the British public, proudly displaying an illuminated electric motion sign, very progressive for the times.
HMV would go on to play a significant role shaping this history of popular music in Britain laying claim to being the place where the Beatles got their break. The HMV brand continued to grow and the now famous “his master’s voice” dog and trumpet logo became instantly recognisable.
HMV had created such momentum by the time the 1980’s and 1990’s came around that they were able to expand their enterprise to include what we know as superstores. HMV discount vouchers were launched in all major population centres around the United Kingdom, including Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Southampton, Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle. HMV was then able to successfully export the HMV brand worldwide, making big strides in North America and South East Asia.

It’s great being a man. But there are times we wish we’re another man! Nothing wrong with that, some guys just have all the luck and there are times when we wish we could be them. Here are some of the more enviable male characters of this world.
1. Brad Pitt. Yeah, we know – too obvious. But hey, what man wouldn’t have loved to have a chance to be with Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston or Angelina Jolie? This guy did. We also wouldn’t say no to his millions and his physique. Well, we could just do with the latter since that will likely bring in a lot of the former.
2. Tom Brady. He’s married to a supermodel, he’s good looking and he’s rich. And is the quarterback for the New England Patriots (well, the last might not be something to be envy about we think).
3. Mark Zuckerberg. He’s only 26 and he’s already a billionaire. The co-founder and president of social networking site Facebook might not be linked with any supermodel or Hollywood hottie, but we think that he can have any (or most) of them should he find time to take a pick. Tsk, we wouldn’t say no to be him.
4. Barack Obama. Not a lot would agree we are sure, as being the president of the United States will probably drive ordinary men crazy. But he’s no ordinary man, that’s why he’s president. Wouldn’t you like to have his power and authority even for a day?

If you’re looking for a reading material that will hold your attention until the last page, there are hundreds of them that you can pick. But if you have never been big at reading books, chances are, you need a good story to spur you on. Here are just five of the many that we recommend to you men out there.
1. To Kill a Mockingbird. One of the best books of all time, Harper Lee spun a story that teaches readers the real meaning of honor and how one should never perceive something as right just because everyone else does. It is also laden with a lot of funny and entertaining parts, largely supplied by the two children in the story.
2. The Catcher in the Rye. This is an easy read – short and entertaining. Teenage boys will have no problem identifying with the main character, while older men will be reminded of earlier years characterized by angst and non-conformity.
3. A Time to Kill. This legal suspense by John Grisham cemented his status as one of the bestselling authors of his generation. Readers will find themselves rooting for Carl Lee (father of the Black girl who suffered from a violent crime in the hands of white men) and his legal team and hopefully will get the deeper message of the story.
4. Kane and Abel. The best among Jeffrey Archer’s many novels, this story takes readers in the exciting world of business wheeling and dealing. Centered on the competition between two stubborn and smart businessmen, Archer was able to create an exciting story that doesn’t lack sensitivity.
5. The Sword of Shannara. If you prefer fantasy adventure, this is a good one to get you started. Although Terry Brooks has been criticized by some as a copycat of Tolkien, we still think that he’s a great writer. After all, it’s the way you tell the story that matters most and Brooks is definitely a great story teller. An adventure-filled and entertaining read, the whole series introduce a handful of interesting characters – particularly Garet Jax in the third installment.

There are movies that men can tolerate watching more than once. On rare occasions when they are alone at home on a weekend night without a date or feeling too lazy to go out, they might consider renting a film to pass the time. Here are some that would go down easy, even for testosterone-laden males.
1. Transformers. No matter how old they are, men will always be boys; and boys love robots. What could be more exciting than a handful of big robots that transform into giant trucks and sleek sports cars having a go at each other? The CG effects are not bad either on this one.
2. Live Free or Die Hard. The fourth movie in the Die Hard series is arguably the best of the lot. Men will like the hard hitting action on this one. Bruce Willis, after all, has always been a well-received character among male movie goers.
3. Rocky. A typical story of a man who overcame obstacles to become a hero, it also has the added attraction of being a boxing movie. What man will not appreciate the intense fight sequences?
4. The Godfather. Intrigue, great story line and Al Pacino. No reason why this movie should not be watched by every man (and woman, for that matter) in the planet. The best mafia film of all time, we think.
5. Dirty Harry. One of the classic cop movies, this film stars one of the most favorite actors of all time, Clint Eastwood. Men will love the action and the cool one-liners that Eastwood delivers perfectly all throughout the movie.

Men love sports, there’s no denying it. But there are some sports that they like watching and there are some that they cannot be bothered with. That is, unless there’s something worth watching, like hot sexy women athletes. Here are four of several reasons why men venture out of their usual male grunting-dominated sports shows.
1. Caroline Wozniacki. If you want to see some of the sexiest females on the planet, watch women’s professional tennis. It’s a feast for males looking for a glimpse of long legs, hot sweating bodies and female grunting. There are scores of them in this sport, but we thought it would be unfair to fill our list with only tennis players so we chose the upcoming Caroline who will likely represent women’s tennis in the coming years. She’s cute, she’s sexy and she’s ranked in the top 5.
2. Natalie Gulbis. She’s definitely no Lorena Ochoa or Annika Sorentsam, but she’s a pretty good golfer and a hot-looking one.
3. Danica Patrick. Not exactly shy from getting involved in controversial situations, Danica is one of the best in a sport that is dominated by men. The NASCAR driver looks great and is not afraid to say what she thinks despite the presence of cameras.
4. Jessica Gysin. She’s still a college athlete but we’re sure she will make it big in the high-flying world of professional sports in no time at all. This blonde, six-foot-plus volleyball player has caught the attention of sports fans all over the world with her great smile and sexy demeanor.

We all know that Hollywood actresses will never be caught dead looking less than their perfect selves. But hey, we’re not complaining. Even though we can never hope to see what they look like first thing in the morning sans makeup and grooming, that has never stopped us from enjoying the sight of them on the big screen. Here are some of these gifts to the world of men that we feel merit every man’s attention.
1. Angelina Jolie. She’s one of those actresses we believe will look great even without the Hollywood glamour and make up. There’s something so sensual about Mrs. Pitt. Must be the lips.
2. Halle Berry. Her flawless, silky skin is just one of the reasons. It also doesn’t hurt that she has one of the most perfect bodies in Hollywood. Pretty good actress too.
3. Scarlett Johansson. Talk about a body that could drive any man insane. And she’s blonde. Well, we’re not sure whether it’s her natural hair color since we’ve seen her as a brunette before, but who cares? We do agree with those who voted her as the actress with the best-looking chest.
4. Megan Fox. One of the best looking Hollywood stars of this generation. It’s not just her looks and her figure, but also the fact that she seemed to be a naughty, bad girl type – something that any hot blooded male will find really exciting.
